Heavy Snow Causes Two Barns To Collapse

At 0718hrs. Edinboro was alerted to assist Cranesville on Ivarea Rd. for a barn collapse with horses trapped. Engine 382 and Brush 397 responded. Cranesville Engine 602 arrived on scene and reported a 60 x 80 wood frame barn with partial collapse and Chief 600 (Crane) assumed Ivarea Rd. command. Upon further investigation, crews found two horses that were trapped by the collapse. Engine 382 and Brush 397 arrived on scene and were ordered to stage by command. Cranesville's crews freed the horses and secured the utilities upon Edinboro's arrival. 382 and 397 were returning in service in ten minutes.
At 1030hrs. Edinboro was alerted for a barn collapse on Fry Rd. Engine 382 and Rescue/Engine 384 responded. Crews arrived on scene to find a 50 x 100 wood frame barn with a roof collapse in the middle and Captain 391 (Sheeder) assumed Fry Rd. command. Crews investigated and found all the animals were out and secured the utilities. Crews operated on scene for a half an hour.
