Building Collapse at Chromalox

At 2318 hours, Edinboro was alerted for a gas leak on West Plum Street at Chromalox. Engine 382, Rescue/Engine 384 and Truck 389 responded with eleven volunteers. Engine 382 arrived on scene and reported a single story steel commercial structure with building collapse on the rear side of the building with an active gas leak. Captain 391 (Sheeder) assumed command. After further investigation, crews confirmed an active gas leak and secured the gas and the electric to the building. Erie County 911 notified National Fuel and Penelec. Crews from 384 and 389 assisted with the securing of utilities and also walked through the building to check for other structural damage. Crews were on scene for approx three hours.
