At 1505hrs. Edinboro was dispatched for a RIT team to assist Venango on Plank Rd. for a structure fire. Rescue/Engine 384 responded with seven. Venango Chief 25 (Proper) arrived on scene with a two story wood frame residential with heavy smoke showing and assumed Plank Rd. command. 384 arrived on scene as the third due engine and the crew got orders to assist Venango and Cambridge crews with suppression. 384's crew entered the structure and were quickly pulled out due to deteriorating conditions and water supply issues. All crews then went defensive. Due to the bitter cold temperatures and problems with equipment freezing, additional engines and tankers were called to the scene to assist along with RIT teams from West Mead #2 and Waterford. Engines from Saegertown and McKean responded along with tankers from Hayfield, Edinboro and Mill Village. Crews on scene had to be rotated quickly due to the weather. Once the fire was knocked down, crews had extensive overhaul. Edinboro operated on scene for over four hours. Cranesville Engine 603 stood by in Edinboro while crews were operating on Plank Rd. While Cranesville was standing by, 603 along with Edinboro Truck 389 and McKean Engine 403 were alerted for a fire alarm at the Edinboro Inn on Plum St. Crews arrived to find a false alarm and returned in service.
